BIRD-WATCHING IN THE CABAÑEROS NATIONAL PARK (CASTILE-LAMANCHA)

The sight of great Spanish imperial eaglesflyingover the forestsof oak trees is truly amazing. They can be found in the heart of the Montes de Toledo (the mountains in the provinces of Toledo and Ciudad Real), a huge protected area renowned for the beauty of its landscapes and its incredible wildlife. Look up into the sky and you'll be able to see nearly two hundred species of birds, including the golden eagle and another threatened species, the black vulture.

This gem of nature, which is home to wild boars and deer, is where you'll find the best in European forests. You can either discover it hiking or by taking a guided tour in a 4x4. Kayak down the Bullaque River or ride through the park on horseback, both different ways of discovering nature. There are numerous wine-cellars and cheese dairies where you'll be able to get your strength back.
