El lago Martel mide 117 m de largo, 30 m de ancho y hasta 14 m de profundidad, y durante la visita a las cuevas se celebra en él un concierto con músicos que tocan a bordo de barcas con luces. La iluminación magistral de este espacio es obra del ingeniero catalán Carles Buigas, conocido como ‘el mago de la luz’. Cuevas dels Hams. También en Porto Cristo se encuentran las Cuevas delsHams, bautizadas así por unas características formaciones arborescentes que parecen anzuelos (en catalán, hams), resultado del trabajo conjunto de las corrientes y las ara- ñas. Fueron descubiertas por el espeleólogo mallorquín PedroCaldentey en 1905, y las formaciones tienen nombres tan sugerentes como ‘Cementerio de las hadas’ o ‘El paraíso perdido deMilton’. En el lago subterráneo Mar de Venecia se celebra un concierto de música desde una barca iluminada.
