– the top of Naranjo de Bulnes is a favourite for climbers – and the Pyrenees, where the peaks reach 3,400 metres. In Sobrarbe and the Ansó Valley, you will find many climbing walls, as well as in the gorges of the Sierra de Guara (Somontano). Sierra de Guadarrama: about 50 kilometres from Madrid you will find Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and La Pedriza granite formation. It is a popular area among climbers and offers challenges for all skill levels. Sierra de Gredos: don’t miss the gorges and lakes of Gredos in Ávila. The best views are from the peaks of La Galana and Almanzor. Sierra Nevada: in Granada, you can find climbing areas on the highest peak of the Iberian Peninsula, the Mulhacén, at 3,479 metres. Montserrat: more than 3,000 routes lead to the peak. The Júcar River Gorge: you will be impressed by the spectacular walls with very difficult routes. Balearic Islands: on the island of Mallorca, you can climb up

to La Creveta in Pollença, Puig de Son Sant Martí in Alcúdia and the Bay of Cala Magraner in Manacor. Canary Islands: Tenerife and the Torreón de Figueroa in Teide National Park and Gran Canaria with its rocky outcrop, La Ayacata. El Moncayo Peak: the highest point of the Iberian Mountains. Basque mountains: in the Gorbea and Anboto mountains you will find numerous signposted routes and climbing schools. The limestone mountains of Alicante: Peñón de Ifach, Callosa de Segura, Tozal de Levante. If you are an advanced climber and love the risk, then you can’t miss the Caminito del Rey, the so-called Royal Route in Málaga. It is considered one of the most dangerous stretches in the world. A beautiful landscape, a canyon, a trail and more than 100 metres of altitude are its main attractions. Access for climbing is free of charge, but you must have liability insurance.
